One Year Later: A Vigilante’s Light Retrospective.

One year.

365 days.

On February 23, 2021, my debut superhero novel, Vigilante’s Light, became available to the public. It was one of the most exciting days of my life. It’s been my dream to write and publish a book since I was a child. I was very blessed to have that dream come to fruition when I was only 25 years old. The day after was even more exciting, in a way, as I got to hold a copy of Vigilante’s Light for the first time. That really made it real.

One year later, and it still feels surreal sometimes. Knowing that anyone out there can read what I wrote is exciting.

There were highs and lows in the past year. The first day of release I was giddy to see Vigilante’s Light sitting just a few spots away from Ted Dekker on the Top 100 Christian Fantasy list. At other times, it seemed no one was buying my book and I wondered if anyone ever would. I went through periods of excitement and periods of agonizing waiting and boredom.

I still can’t say with definitive accuracy how Vigilante’s Light has performed. I’ve seen sales rankings rise and fall. I’ve gotten positive reviews from strangers and from friends and family members. I’ve had the opportunity to speak about my book on a podcast and in front of hundreds of young adults for a youth conference over the summer.

Regardless of how many sales I’ve had or how many people are reading it, I am still incredibly blessed to have it published at all.

In a few months, Freedom’s Fight will follow suit and be released to the public. I’m excited to share more about that as it draws closer – including a cover reveal – and I can’t wait for readers to experience the next chapter in the story of Gideon Turner and his supporting cast. Freedom’s Fight takes many of the elements of Vigilante’s Light and dials them up, and I hope it delivers on an exciting and action-packed story that will leave readers wanting more!

I would like to say a sincere “thank you” to everyone who has supported me this year. Whether by buying a copy of your own, sharing posts and announcements on social media, telling people you know about my book and encouraging them to buy it, or providing opportunities for me to share about my work and my experiences – thank you! Every little bit helps.

Who knows where the future will take Vigilante’s Light? It may be a year old, but I’m hoping 2022 will be even more successful in reaching my target audience than 2021 was. I can’t control how many people buy and read it – all I can do it let the book be out there, promote it as I can, and leave the rest in God’s hands.

If you have not yet purchased a copy of Vigilante’s Light and would like to jump into a thrilling story of crime, heroism, and drama, you can get it here.

Until the release of Freedom’s Fight – thank you, and happy reading!
